On I-65 take the Old Hickory exit and head west. Follow it all the way until it dead ends into Hwy 100 and take a left. Look to the right just before you reach the Natchez Trace and there it is....Loveless Cafe! The drive there is beautiful which is a bonus but the food! Seriously the best biscuits I've ever eaten. Todd and Draper prefer them with the preserves but I like them with sorghum syrup and a pat of butter. Just the way my Granny Luna taught me to eat biscuits. I typically get fried chicken or breakfast because the fried chicken is delicious and there aren't many places that you can score sliced tomatoes with your eggs. However, this time I decided on a veggie plate. The bean of the day (which happened to be pintos and northern beans together), greens, mac & cheese and caramel sweet potatoes. The beans were seasoned perfectly.....didn't even need salt. The greens also were fabulous and I am very picky about greens. My Maw Maw and Nanny Jones are the only ones who cook turnip greens the way I like them. However, my mom now owns the collard green market. But she was sweet enough to tell me her secret so I make really good greens now too! The mac & cheese was perfect although I was slightly disappointed in the sweet potatoes. All in all it's wonderful food and I never get close to Nashville that I don't eat there. If you are ever in the area check it out http://www.lovelesscafe.com/!
Hugs,
Keely
