I love Election Day. I remember the first election that I was old enough to vote in. It was 1992 and Bill Clinton was running against incumbent, Daddy Bush. There have been several elections since then and I am proud to say that I have made my voice heard in every one of them. I must admit that I was a little misty eyed leaving the polls this morning. If honest I think most everyone is guilty of taking for granted that we live in a democracy and what that means exactly. It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that in many parts of the world democracy is a foreign concept. They live under dictatorships or at the very least socialistic government. That in some countries as a woman I would be denied the right to vote. However, because of the men and women who fought so hard to found this country.......for all her faults still the greatest country in the world.......I have the right and the privilege to make my voice heard. But with the privilege and the right to vote comes great responsibility. A responsibility to the men and women who have sacrificed their time, their families, their comfort, their careers and for many their lives so that I can take a stand and have a say in the future of this country......their country.......my country.
So get out there and vote!
Hugs,
Keely
